I provide comprehensive guidance across the complete protein crystallography pipeline, from gene to structure. My experience spans molecular biology, protein purification, crystallization, diffraction data collection and processing. I also bring expertise in protein functional analyses, including enzyme kinetics, mechanistic studies and inhibitor characterization. I work closely with research groups to ensure robust methodologies, effective optimization and favorable outcomes.
Analysis & Review
I provide rigorous analysis and review of protein crystallographic structures to support deposition to the Protein Data Bank and submission to peer-reviewed journals. My work includes assessment of model quality, validation statistics and structural interpretation to identify and resolve any potential issues. My process ensures the accuracy, quality and integrity of reported structural results.
Scientific Writing & Editing
I provide support for scientific writing, editing, figure preparation and peer-review response assistance, with a strong record of delivering technically sound and publishable research communications. My approach emphasizes logical organization, clarity and adherence to journal standards, ensuring that manuscripts are well positioned for successful peer review.
About
I am a scientist with over 20 years of experience in protein crystallography, molecular biology, enzymology and biochemistry. My background includes research conducted at academic institutions (including Princeton University, Cornell University, University of Alberta, and University of Manitoba) and within government laboratory settings. I have also provided scientific and technical support to leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations. In addition to my research and consulting activities, I currently serve as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences and as an elected member of the Canadian Light Source Users' Executive Committee.My work in both team-based and lead scientific roles has demonstrated my ability to guide and translate complex experimental processes into clear and impactful scientific communications. I am an author on 28 peer-reviewed publications — including first-author articles in Nature Communications, Chemistry & Biology, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry — as well as an author on 45 protein structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank.
